The adventures of the Crawley family and their servants will continue for a fourth season. ITV the British network and producers of “Downton Abbey” have confirmed that the show has been renewed.

Filming of the fourth season starts in February of 2013 and is set in the 1920s. It will consist of eight episodes.

But that new season may be carrying on without Matthew Crawley. The Daily Mail is reporting that Dan Stevens who plays cousin Matthew doesn’t plan on coming back for a fourth season. According to the story, an anonymous insider says Stevens “will probably do the first episode of the fourth series, but that will be it.”

Of course those of us in the states have yet to see season 3! It premieres January 6 , 2013 with the introduction of Dowager Countess nemesis Martha Levinson (played by Shirley MacLaine) and the new footman, Jimmy played by Ed Speelers, last seen in the movie “Eragon.”
