The word is out. Bass Pro Shops is coming to Augusta and Emerson.

The Columbia County commissioners announced Wednesday that Bass Pro Shops® Outpost will be opening a 50,000 square foot store in the fall of 2014 or early spring 2015. The store will be located near the intersection of I-20 and Flowing Wells Road.

"This joint venture between Bass Pro Shops, McKnight Properties and the County is a wonderful example of a public/private partnership," said Columbia County Commission Chairman Ron Cross. "The addition of Bass Pro Shops greatly coincides with Columbia County's efforts to provide more shopping opportunities for our citizens and the region. We look forward to this long term partnership."

In Emerson, a 100,000 square foot Bass Pro Shops Outpost® will be the lead anchor of the recently announced 1,200-acre LakePoint Sporting Community & Town Center located at the Red Mountain and Emerson exits off Interstate 75. LakePoint is the amateur sports complex and village featuring baseball, softball, lacrosse, a waterski wake park, and an indoor sports facility as well.

“We are very excited to be a part of this tremendous development that is destined to become one of Georgia’s top attractions and an inspiration for young people around the country to be able to excel in the sports they love,” stated Johnny Morris, Founder of Bass Pro Shops.

Bass Pro Shops is a premier outdoor retail leader in fishing, hunting, camping, nature gifts, outdoor cooking, showrooms and more. They host over 75 million visitors a year and have over 80 stores and marine centers across America and Canada.
