The Nissan Leaf is Georgia's Top Selling Electric Car

According to automotive website site Edmunds.com, Georgia has a higher percentage of electric vehicles on the road than any other state east of the Mississippi River.

Overall, Georgia ranks fourth in the U.S. behind Washington, Hawaii, and California.

Fully electric vehicles accounted for more than 1% or all new registrations in Georgia during 2013.

State tax policy may have something to do with Georgians purchasing all-electric vehicles. The state offers a $5,000 tax credit if the newly purchased car is completely powered by electricity without any internal combustion engine.

The most popular electric car in Georgia is the Nissan Leaf.
