SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) — Athletics officials in southeast Georgia have moved three high school football games from Friday night to Thursday to avoid the tropical storm called Hurricane Irene.

Peggy Johnson, senior director of athletics for the Savannah-Chatham County Public System, says more schedule changes could be in the works.

The Savannah Morning News says Friday games that have been moved to Thursday include Beach at Hardeeville, Johnson at Richmond Hill and Wayne County vs. Windsor Forest at Memorial Stadium in Savannah.

Johnson says she's awaiting word from Camden County about its game against visiting Savannah High and Jenkins' game at South Effingham. Those games could also be moved to Thursday.

Calvary Day athletic director Chad Griffin says officials are waiting to make a decision about the game at Montgomery County until Wednesday.
