Here in Forsyth County optimism is running rampant The Longhorns under the direction of Head Coach Sid Maxwell are trying to go to 2-oh this week. They face the defending Quad A state champion Chattahoochee Cougars. The Region 7-AAAA battle will be televised in primetime on GPB, our coverage starts at 8PM.

The Longhorns are coming off an impressive 8-3 campaign and a postseason run. Lambert is not short on confidence when it comes to facing a rival separated by just 8 miles and only a 20 minute drive.

All this week the battle cry at practice has been "Up The Intensity"! Lambert is going to need it when they face the "Hooch' on Friday. Coach Maxwell is not new to building programs. He did the same at Sequoyah High School. Six members of his coaching staff at Lambert played for him at Sequoyah.

With an early season victory over arch-rival Chattahoochee the Longhorns program may send the message to the State of Georgia that WE have arrived. Knocking off the defending state champions and ending their 15 game winning streak would be a nice way to start.

The Longhorns head into Friday's game with Chattahoochee after last week's 28-7 win over NW Whitfield. For the "Hooch" this Labor Day weekend tussle will mark their 2011 season opener. This should be a GREAT one in Week 3 of Football Fridays on GPB.
