A FIRST TIME IN WEEK ONE

Its week one of the playoffs. The road to the Georgia Dome is officially
underway. 405 schools began the season with the dream of making it to the playoffs
and eventually the state finals at the Georgia Dome. Now 160 teams, in five classifications
will battle it out for the five championship trophies.

On gpb.org/sports we have a great first round game in Class AAAAA. Undefeated M L King
will take on the Trojans of Coffee County. Now if you look at the records,
the Lions are 10-0, and Coffee County is 5-5 you say to yourself, "self" this might
be a blowout". But hold onto your hats. The Trojans play in Region 1 which is
very tough, and the Trojans also beat region champ Valdosta three weeks ago.
In fact, both these schools played and beat Valdosta, the Trojans winning 22-17.
The Lions beat Valdosta 16-3. Also Coffee County has won three consecutive first
round road games. So the Trojans are road warriars.

However, M L King has some big time playmakers led by Blake Tibbs who is coming
off one of the best performances in Georgia High School football history, EVER.

Blake scored five touchdowns, four on pass plays, and then ran back a game winning
kickoff return with 16 seconds left as M L King knocked off previously unbeaten
Stephenson 50-49.

This is also the first time these two schools have ever met on the gridirion.
Should be an outstanding game to watch on gpb.org/sports.

Also on the TV side we have 9-1 Marist hosting 8-2 Kell.
Marist coach Alan Chadwick will be going for an historic 300th
win at the school where he has coached for the past 27 seasons.

We come on the air at 7:55. Don't miss a second, because it will be
a great first round game.

And so, the march on the Road to the Dome, begins......it will be a
terrific next five weeks.
