Hard to believe we are here at GHSA Semifinal week. The hard working GPB Football Fridays in Georgia crew head to Loganville for the Grayson Rams and Colquitt County Packers 5A matchup. The other game will feature Lassiter versus Walton. The Trojans and Raiders met back on September 30th with the Raiders winning BIG 34-10. More on that matchup later.

But first lets discuss the Packers and Rams. Colquitt County is 11-2, and Grayson is 13-oh. The Packers beat the Rams 31-24 in the semis last year advancing to the Finals for the first since 1994.

We will also see two great coaches matching wits Grayson's Mickey Conn, and Colquitt County's Russ Propst. The game will also features the state's best player in Grayson DE/FB Robert Nkemdiche. Former NFL running Christian Okoye was the ORIGINAL Nigerian nightmare, Nkemdiche is the Version 2.0/NEW Nigerian nightmare. Robert's parents hail from the African country
of Nigeria. His mother is an elected public official there. Nkemdiche is the TOP RATED Division One prospect for 2012. He scored 4 TDS in the Rams 33-7 rout of West Forsyth.

The formidable Colquitt County defense will be up for the challenge. It will be a question of what gives on Friday night. The winner gets either Lassiter or Walton. Walton waltzed their way into the semis with a 21-13 over Dacula despite a heroic effort by the Falcons Rocky Copabianco. Copabianco ran for 122 yards and threw for another 50 against the Raiders. Walton's Tyren Jones for 156 yards on 31 carries and accepted for 2 Walton scores. The Raiders WR/DB Zack Blaylock, who is headed to the University of Kentucky had 95 yard TD reception from QB Parker McLeod, and two interceptions. Both joined us on the GPB Sports Blog after the game.

The Lassiter Trojans are led by Quarterback Eddie Prinze and defensive back Niles Clark. The winner of that game insures Cobb County will place a finalist in a 5A championship for the first time in over decade. In 2000, Kennesaw's Harrison High school lost to Lilburn's Parkview High 19-7.

Other semifinal games on Friday, In Quad A, Warner-Robins at Lovejoy, and Tucker at Northside. In 3A, Burke at Gainesville (Likely GPB.org game), Cairo at Peach County. 2A, Appling at Calhoun, and Buford at Carver-Columbus (A rematch of Week One won by the Wolves 35-7). In 1A, Prince Avenue Christian at Savannah Christian, and Landmark Christian at Eagle's Landing Christian. The winners in these 5 GHSA classifications earn a trip to the Georgia Dome for championship week Dec 9th and 10th. Join Jon Nelson, Mark Harmon, Lindsey Thiry, Chrissy Warrilow, Jackie Brittain, Trey McDaniel, Coach Dave Hunter and yours truly this Friday for coverage of the Packers and Rams will be around 7PM/Eastern/5PM/Arizona/4PM/Pacific times on GPB's Knowledge/GPB.org. Join us! It should be a GREAT Night of High School football in the GREAT State of Georgia.
