Alpharetta Girls Move Up In Hoops Rankings

If there was any doubt as to whether Norcross would struggle all season long, the Blue Devils pulled out a nice victory in the Hilton Invitational Saturday to continue a recent hot streak and move back into the Top Ten. Valdosta fell to Colquitt County and dropped from the rankings. Effingham County is brand new to the Class AAAA rankings with a 17-1 record, replacing North Clayton. Troup is the new addition in Class AAA as Shaw fell from the rankings. In Class AA, East Hall appears in the latest poll despite a loss to Class A No. 1 Whitefield Academy on Saturday. The Vikings pounded Rabun County, dropping the Wildcats from the rankings. Finally Landmark Christian is the newest face in Class A, debuting at No. 10.

Class AAAAA girls saw the top five stay the same with the bottom half of the poll receiving a big shakeup. Alpharetta moved up two spots and Lowndes moved up to No. 9 while Stephenson took Mill Creek's spot in the top ten. ... Northside-Warner Robins broke into the Class AAAA poll, taking the spot of Warner Robins. ... Class AAA still features Washington County atop the poll with St. Pius X sitting at No. 2 but Westover is in position to move up should either of those two fall. ... Class AA remains untouched though Buford could move up in a hurry as Andraya Carter gets more comfortable and recovers from her injury. ... Finally in Class A, Gordon Lee moves into the poll, taking Bryan County's former spot.
