For the first week in a long time, there didn’t seem to be a whole lot of upsets on the field Friday night. It seemed to be more of a game-time where those who were trying to solidify their standings (and places therein) were doing exactly that…

Not that there wasn’t some stuff that went on off the field…

Most notably, for some, was Buford having to forfeit two wins this season for using an ineligible player. On one front, I’m sure that the Wolves are glad they found this out now. Think about what would have happened if it occurred at the end of the season…???

That would NOT have gone over well…

And, second, think about the playoffs now… Buford should end up as either a three or a four seed coming out of their region in triple-A. And some one or two-seed gets a very angry team in the first round…??? A lot of coaches may be saying, “Can they stay right where they are for a lot longer than that…?”

Not going to be a pleasant surprise for someone come mid-November…

First thing I know… Glad Eddie Prinze now has his UCLA experience behind him…

The Lassiter QB was (let’s face it) totally played and then, subsequently, ignored by JL Mora and the Brentwood Bruins with his reneging of his scholarship offer. He seems to have found a good home in Columbia, Missouri with Garry Pinkel and the Ess-E-Cee.

Last week before his declaration (round two), he played like his hair was on fire in a great come back win on gpb.org over Milton. The Eagles spotted Lassiter a 23-6 lead before coming back to win 47-30. Prinze ended up going 25-of-37 passing for 420 yards and four second-half scores.

Here’s how it all went down…

Second Thing I Know… Next Friday (not this Friday) should be a blast in central Georgia…

Not that it’s not fun every week, but next week is Warner Robins-Northside…

Warner Robins won their shootout with Houston County 49-34. D.D. Wright rushed for 218 yards and four touchdowns on only 18 carries. Danny Hite had 107 yards rushing, and the Demons had 460 yards rushing as a team- which is B-Way’s Way.

Northside, still the top-ranked team in 5A, took care of Jones County 35-0 and take on Greenbrier. Warner Robins gets Grovetown this week.

Expect mayor Chuck Shaheen to say a lot of neutral things in public this week and-a-half…

Third Thing I Know… This Friday will be fun in Sandersville as Washington County takes on Thomson to decide their region champion.

And, yes, I know there are still a few games left in the season. But these two teams are, far and away, some of the best in triple-a (right behind Peach County).

Thomson had problems with Dodge before winning last week while WaCo had no such concerns with Swainsboro.

Matt and Tom discuss everything from the CSRA that includes Burke beating Glenn Hills for the 22nd straight time…

Fourth Thing I Know… Your Region 1-6A update for the week…

Three of the teams in the region have already played eight games after last Friday- Lowndes, Coffee, and Tift. It looks like the Vikes will end up as the one seed heading into the last week of the regular season playing Camden (early “Game of the Year” contender) unless Tift upsets them this week.

Colquitt, Coffee, and Valdosta are looking at the final two spots and this week’s Colquitt-Valdosta should speak volumes as to who is outside looking in.

Here’s how we got here…

Robert Hydrick is in The Locker Room and the highlights start around the 5:25 mark…

Fifth Thing I Know… Blatant plug alert…

It’s time for another “Football Fridays” and we’ll be back at Hallford Stadium to answer some questions in region 6-5A as ML King takes on Stephenson. The Jags beat Tucker two weeks ago, but lost to Union Grove last week. ML King is still on top of the region and are top three in the 5A poll, but Ron Gartrell’s Jags are still top ten material.

Join Mark , Kat Carney (pinch-hitting for Jenn Hobby this week), Gil, Trey, David, and “Moi” starting at 7:30, game time around 8:06.

The website, gpb.org, will have a game as well- kickoff there is 7:30.

So, download our app (it’s free), friend us on Facebook, chat with us online during the game and follow the conversation on Twitter- just be a part of the home stretch for the regular season as we head for the playoffs.

Play it safe, everyone… I’ll talk to you soon…
