The schedule for the 2013 Metro PCS Corky Kell Classic was revealed at the GHSA championships and the matchups could be some of the best ever for the prestigious event set to once again take place at the Georgia Dome on Aug. 24. The teams will be the same as last year, but the matchups will pit Gwinnett powers against teams from Cobb County and south Georgia. Kell and Chattahoochee battled last year and will meet again as Kell will try to duplicate the success found last season in a 19-8 victory. Kell will lose several key defensive playmakers before the teams meet again, as will Chattahoochee, but both teams should bring back plenty of firepower. Kell is 2-1 all-time in the Corky Kell Classic while Chattahoochee is 0-3. The two teams opened up the 2012 event and will do so again at 9 a.m.

Peachtree Ridge will face Walton in the second game at 11:45 a.m. These two met two years ago with Walton prevailing 26-14 to help kickstart a 14-0 start and a run to the finals. Peachtree Ridge will be looking to snap a two-game Corky Kell losing streak. The Lions have appeared in just three Corky Kell Classics, winning their debut in 2010 against McEachern, but falling the last two seasons, including last year 42-0 to Camden County. Walton is 5-4 all-time in the event.

Grayson will face Colquitt County for the first time in the regular season. The two programs have met just twice in the past, both coming in the semifinals of the GHSA playoffs. Colquitt County won in 2010 while Grayson won in 2011. Both games were played at Grayson, so this will be the first time the Rams will not have the benefit of homefield advantage. Grayson has a Corky Kell record of 4-1 while Colquitt County is just 1-4 with the lone win coming in 1996.

Camden County has the best winning percentage in Corky Kell Classic history at 85.6 percent (6-1). Last year, Camden County blanked Peachtree Ridge 42-0, but now fellow Suwanee powerhouse North Gwinnett will face off against the Wildcats. North Gwinnett is 2-1 in the event and won last year on a last-second field goal over Colquitt County. The Bulldogs should return plenty of offensive playmakers and a stud on the defensive line, meaning this one game could be just the jump-off point Bob Sphire needs to ignite a championship run. Camden County, meanwhile, will play against players across the board headed to SEC programs, but Jeff Herron is one of the best in GHSA history, so don't count out Camden County.

In the final game of the night, Brookwood faces McEachern in a throwback game. These two programs met in the first-ever classic and have participated in every Corky Kell Classic and each has also hosted the event in years when the event was moved away from the Georgia Dome. Both squads lost last year, McEachern to Grayson and Brookwood to Walton, but look for each team to be fired up with plenty of standouts ready to make an impact in the day's main event. Brookwood has the most wins in Corky Kell history with 11 and McEachern is right behind the Broncos with nine.
