Ivey connected on six 3-pointers to set a new career high. … In Friday night action, Class AA No. 1 Wesleyan went on the road and dominated No. 2 GAC, winning 74-63. Katie Frerking scored 23 points while Nikki McDonald tossed in 22 points to seize the victory. … Melissa Turvy reached the 1,000-point plateau in Peachtree Ridge’s 59-46 loss to Habersham Central. Turvy finished with 20 points and became the program’s first 1,000-point scorer. The Gwinnett Daily Post noted that Duluth’s Katie Powell and North Gwinnett’s Whitted also reached the mark this weekend.

After winning the GHSA Class AAAAA football state championship, several Gainesville players traded in their cleats for sneakers and have helped the Red Elephants rebound from a 1-5 start to win six of nine, including an 88-77 win over East Hall Saturday. Deshaun Watson scored 17 points and Caleb Hayman had 13. Luke Moore chipped in 17 points and Shaquan Cantrell led the Red Elephants with 26 points. … Score 44 standout Jabari McGhee of Class AAAA No. 3 Monroe recorded 30 points and 12 rebounds to help his team beat rival Westover for the third time this season. McGhee has averaged 28 points in the three contests. … Nafis Floyd scored 12 points for Archer in the Tigers’ 68-41 win over Mountain View, but Kelvin Nwanze led the team with 20 points and 13 rebounds. … Class AAA No. 8 Johnson-Savannah traveled to Mouth of Wilson, Va., to face Oak Hill Academy, and while the Atom Smashers lost 84-59, Tim Quarterman was sensational, scoring 35 points. The future LSU Tiger was “the best player tonight in a gym full of great players,” coach Utaff Gordon told the Savannah Morning News. … Friday night, Cam Boyd paced Class AA No. 1 GAC with 20 points, including six 3-pointers as the Spartans destroyed Wesleyan 71-29. Isaiah Wilkins score 15 points. … Justin Burnam scored 23 points and Jarius Smith added 12 points as Northside-Warner Robins defeated rival Warner Robins 63-55 Saturday. The win pushed Northside to 12-4, including 3-0 in Region 2-AAAAA play. … Finally, Taylor County’s Gerdarius Troutman notched 37 points as Taylor County moved to 10-5 with an 85-59 victory over Peach County. Keyshawn Baker added 18 points in the win.
