A hot August night at the home of the Grayson Rams officially kicked off a Football Fridays in Georgia season that has flown by.

I can't believe it. This Friday's game, on Football Fridays In Georgia, is the last of the regular season. Where has the time gone? It seems like just the other day, GPB was televising five games on one August Saturday in the Corky kell Classic at the Georgia Dome.

Our first Friday night game was North Gwinnett at Grayson and from there, we were off and running. We had two reigning state champs: Buford and Gainesville collide one hot night in September. We traveled to Norcross to visit the defending 6A champs. We then made stops in Marietta, at Hallford Stadium and at Walton's "Raider Valley."

One crisp October Friday night, we watched North Cobb quarterback Tyler Queen knock off highly ranked McEachern. We saw lots of kick-off returns for touchdowns, a pick six, long bombs, great runs, tough tackles, and razzle dazzlers.

And this week, the regular season comes to a close with the defending 5A state champion Red Elephants of Gainesville hosting the Falcons of Flowery Branch for the Region 8-AAAAA title. This could be a classic. Flowery Branch comes into this one with a 7-2 overall record, 7-0 in the region. The Falcons have won seven straight games while averaging 34 points a game. Coach Chris Griffin has done a great job in this his second season at the helm.

The Red Elephants of Gainesville are the defending 5A state champs. Gainesville is 8-1 on the year, 7-0 in the region and also on a seven-game winning streak. The Red Elephants' only loss came against Buford, the defending 3A state champs. And talk about scoring points...Gainesville has scored 465 points already this season. Using all my fingers and toes, that averages out to 52 points per game.

Gainesville is led by QB Deshaun Watson who is the all-time passing leader in the state of Georgia. Deshaun has passed for 11,848 yards and 141 touchdowns. He is an incredible talent and a lot of fun to watch.

Tune into the All-Access Pass pre-game show at 7 to catch my interview with the record-setting quarterback, along with the leader of the herd, Gainesville Head Coach Bruce Miller.

So, the regular season will close out with a bang as Gainesville hosts Flowery branch, and then...guess what??????

IT'S ON TO THE PLAYOFFS--ON GPB!
