On this edition of Hey! Did You Know, it's regional playoff time and the schools featured this week are both from Gwinnett County. So, we will be focusing on the interesting facts that make Gwinnett County awesome.

Being the 15th largest school district in the United States, Gwinnett County Public Schools is also the largest school system in Georgia, with an estimated student enrollment of over 161,000 students this school year. Also, 14 Gwinnett County Public Schools were listed among Newsweek’s list of Top 1,600 high schools in the nation.

Hey! Did You Know that Gwinnett County School System was the winner of the 2010 Broad Prize for Urban Education. Gwinnett County received $1 million in college scholarships for its high school students. The $2 million Broad Prize is an annual award that honors the five large urban school districts that demonstrate the strongest student achievement and improvement while narrowing achievement gaps between income and ethnic group

Hey! Did You Know … that Gwinnett County Public Schools Television recently won an EMMY Award for “What’s the School Effect?”
Gwinnett’s award-winning production was honored with the EMMY award in the category of “Outstanding Achievement: Television Crafts Achievement Excellence/Director – Post-Production ”Did You know… that Gwinnett County Public School’s Nutrition Program was names a Best Practice Award Winner by the Georgia Department of Education School Nutrition Program.
