It’s estimated that teachers spend more than $1.33 billion of their own money on school supplies. That’s according to an article in the Journal. Like the parents who are scouring for back to school deals for their kids, teachers are looking for good discounts too.

Educators will be able to take advantage of Georgia's back to school tax free holiday. But additionally there are plenty of discount programs just for educators too. Many of them are offered all year round.

Office and School Supplies:

Amazon.com: Offers free shipping for teachers and students who take advantage of the Amazon Prime discounts for eligible students.

FedEx Office National Educators Discount Program: FedEx Office provides teachers, professors, faculty and staff members with 15% off on most products and services at participating FedEx Office nationwide.

Office Depot: Go to the store during Star Teacher Appreciation Week for 20% discounts.

OfficeMax MaxPerks® Rewards for Teachers: Sign up for a free rewards card and receive savings all year long. This includes a $10 reward for every $75 teachers spend on qualifying purchases - up to $100 each calendar year. Use the card in store or online. Also visit the store for Teacher Appreciation Days.

Staples Back to School Savings Pass: Get a pass for $10 and receive 15% off hundreds of school supplies including binders, backpacks, reams paper etc.

SupplyGeeks.com: Offers low prices on a wide selection of school supplies.

Walmart: Visit the store’s newly launched 88 cent section meant for students, parents and especially teachers looking to save money.

Books, Computers and Software:

Academic Superstore: Get discounts on a variety of software.

Adobe Student and Teacher Discounts: Educators receive up to 80% of software:

Apple Store for Educators: You can get discounts on computers, software and third party products. This discount is extended to homeschoolers, administrators and school staff too for all grade levels.

Barnes and Noble Educator Program: Sign up for the discount program and get 20% off the publisher’s list price. Get up to 25% off the publisher's list price during Educator Appreciation Days. Receive valuable email offers and information on special Educator events. Use your Educator ID card in store and online.

Lenovo: The computer company gives educator pricing on their computers.

Media:

GPB Educator Membership: Educators can become a member of GPB at the special $25 membership rate and receive a custom “thank you gift."

PBS Teachers: Sign up for an account and receive discounts on DVDs and other media at the Shop PBS Store.

Miscellaneous:

Big Lots Teacher Appreciation Day, August 11, 2012: Visit the store during the tax fee holiday weekend for more savings.

Home Depot and Lowes: The stores exempt teachers from sales tax all year round. To activate this discount, educators will need to fill out a form at the store.

Michael’s: Teachers can receive %15 discounts by showing a school ID.

The Container Store Organized Teacher Program: They offer discounts throughout the year to educators. Simply fill out the registration form for their program.

Wireless Phones and Plans:

ATT: The discount applies to educators and students on cellphones and plans.
