For just $30 and a short walk, you could save the life of a cat or dog. It’s through the annual Atlanta Pet Parade Walk for Animals which will be held Saturday April 13. Each year, thousands of dogs and their owners hit the trails of Atlantic Station, walking to help generate awareness in the community and support fundraising for animal shelters.

Early registration is $30.00. You can register as an individual or as part of a team. Children 12 and younger walk for free. Pets walk for free with their owners of course.

Funds benefit the Atlanta Humane Society one of the city’s largest animal shelters. On average, it costs the Atlanta Humane Society’s shelter approximately $300 to find a loving home for a dog or cat. Each individual walker is encouraged to raise that amount as a minimum. Fundraising for animal shelters ensures the placement of a homeless animal and continued care for other needy pets. By the way participants who raise money will receive prizes.

The schedule of the events is as follows:

  • Registration: 9 a.m.
  • Opening Ceremonies: 10:45 a.m.
  • Walkers Navigate the Course: 11 a.m.
  • Festivities Conclude: 1 p.m.
