While I usually keep an eye on the skies in this blog, today I'm focusing on superstar students at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Out of 150 teams, 6 groups have been chosen as the finalists in The InVenture Prize at Georgia Tech! I had a chance to interview each of the teams, and I am blown away by their creativity and ingenuity.

This year marks the fourth year of the InVenture Prize contest, and it is the third year in which the contest will be aired on GPB TV. Since its inception, the InVenture Prize has opened countless doors for young entrepreneurs and sparked the imagination of future engineers.

As an alumna of Georgia Tech (B.S. EAS '07), I am proud to serve the GT and the GPB communities by participating in the production of the InVenture Prize contest. Be sure to tune into Georgia Public Broadcasting on Tuesday, March 13th at 7pm to watch these bright students shine! You can also watch the show online at www.gpb.org/inventure.

I stopped by the Ferst Center for the Arts to check out the *huge* tv satellite truck that will be broadcasting the contest on TV. I also made sure to visit an old "friend" who hangs out at the front of the building.

This is the "Crosscreek" Truck that is beaming the TV signal to satellites in outer-space. It is located right outside of the Ferst Center where the InVenture Prize contest will occur.

At the front of the theater is a statue of George Griffin, who served as the Dean of Students at Georgia Tech from 1946 to 1964. The Georgia Tech Library Archives has more information about Dean Griffin here. I posed with Dean Griffin in 2004 and again in 2012.

And, of course, here are the finalists in the InVenture Prize at Georgia Tech 2012. Be sure to tune in on Tuesday, March 13th at 7pm to vote for your favorite! The winner of the "People's Choice" wins a cash prize of $5,000 (provided by the NCR Corporation). The live audience and broadcast viewers will have the opportunity to help select the winner of this award by voting on the internet or by text message. So tune in and be sure to vote!!
