DEN Summer Institute 2013
Online application
Tuesday, March 12, 2013 to Monday, March 25, 2013

The application deadline is March 25, 2013. Apply here.

The Discovery Educator Network Summer Institute 2013 is a week-long residential style professional development opportunity for STAR Discovery Educators to focused on professional development and networking. It is free to attend, but does have a competitive application process. Those accepted are responsible for travel costs to and from the institute, but once there we take care of the rest.

The week will feature special guests who will help to frame and challenge our thinking. We will also have many opportunities for our STARs to engage in conversations with each other as well as the Discovery Education team.

There will also be time for attendees to participate in professional development sessions around topics that you would like to explore in greater depth.

We are very excited about the week at the University of Vermont.

Rules in a Nutshell

Up to 125 STAR Discovery Educators will be accepted to DENSI2013. The main portion of this year's application is a short video that tells your DEN story.
We want to know about you and why you are part of the DEN. Tell us what the DEN means to you or why you joined. Talk to us on camera or have a colleague or student interview you. Let us know why you want to attend DENSI.

Applications will be judged by multiple reviewers who will be looking specifically at the content of the message for passion, authenticity, and DENthusiasm.

We aren't looking for your tech skills, we're looking for you and your passion for connecting, sharing, and learning.

Video Guidelines

videos should be between 1 and 2 minutes in length
videos should be unedited
videos should feature the applicant
videos should be posted some place that is not password protected (like the Educator Resources section of the DEN or YouTube)

All volunteers receive training, free parking and a catered meal provided by Carole Parks Catering.
