Since early times, explorers and naturalists have extolled the natural beauty of Georgia and the diverse habitats found in our state. In fact, even today, in the face of mass habitat destruction, the southeastern region of the United States is home to some of the most diverse animal and plant communities in the world. Although full restoration of these ecosystems is impossible, there is hope for saving what wild places do remain.
