Coastal Camping
|
We'll start by taking the ferry to Cumberland Island National Seashore, Georgia's southernmost barrier island. Here the horses run free and the salt marshes and tidal creeks glisten with saltwater. Cumberland Island is about the same size as Manahattan, but it's not nearly as crowded! Next, we'll take another ferry to Sapelo Island. Here we'll learn about the history of the island, it's newly renovated lighthouse and maybe even have a lesson in how to make marsh grass baskets. Finally, we'll visit Ossabaw Island by boat. Camping is not allowed here but we'll take a tour thanks to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources. We'll do all this while spending the night under the stars with the sound of the waves crashing nearby. Life couldn't get any better.
