Emergency workers in Atlanta continue their work at the scene of a partially-collapsed downtown parking deck. The process includes carefully removing cars and looking for any people who might be trapped.

It was around lunchtime Monday that the six-story parking deck in Atlanta’s Midtown section partially caved-in. The middle sections of four floors pancaked downward, crushing dozens of cars. Throughout much of the day, officials cross-checked with tenants of buildings nearby to assure that people who had parked in the deck were not inside at the time. So far, there have not been reports of any injuries or missing people.

Operations this morning continue on two tracks. One is to stabilize the deck to ensure safety for workers to get inside. The other is to carefully use tow trucks to extract cars from the deck, while continuing a search for people who might be trapped.

Workers are using rescue dogs and listening-devices in the search.
