Former Georgia governor and U.S. Senator Zell Miller is said to be improving and in stable condition in the hospital after treatment for shingles.

The 77-year-old Miller was admitted last weekend to St. Joseph's Hospital for the painful rash he’s had for the past few weeks.

Miller served in the Senate from 2000 to 2005, and he held the reigns as Georgia’s governor from 1991 to 1996.
