A South Georgia man continues to recover from multiple gunshot wounds he received during a mass shooting on Fort Hood Army Base in Texas. 45-year old Staff Sgt. Paul Martin from Adel is still in a Texas hospital. Martin was one of 43 people shot when an Army psychiatrist allegedly opened fire on a room full of soldiers on the base.
Martin described his injuries during an interview with ABC News. He says he is counting his blessings after being shot four times.
"In the arm right here, arm right here it went through, in the leg right here and in the lower backside of my body. It seemed like a movie, something that happens in a movie. It didn't seem like it was real, but it was happening for real."
Martin says he was saved by a fellow soldier who carried him to safety. On Tuesday President Barack Obama visited Martin in the hospital. The President was at Fort Hood to attend a memorial service for the 13 victims who died in the attack.
