A Middle Georgia police chief has resigned from office. John Thrower submitted his letter of resignation to Cochran Mayor, Gene Towns and turned in his badge last Friday. The Cochran Police Department has been under investigation by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the Federal Bureau of Investigation for the last eight months following allegations of officer misconduct. Three officers from the fifteen person department have been charged with crimes in the past year. Towns has been on the force for sixteen years, spending the last four as chief.
