With cuts to education around the state, fine arts programs often fall by the wayside. At one public school in Atlanta an art teacher tapped into the world of fashion to fund his program and help out animals.

Vincent Martinez taught fine arts when he started the program seven years ago. At that time the program offered only two sewing classes.

Since then it has become a full fledged fashion design program. Martinez funds Urban Couture through fund raising with his annual senior fashion show.

Every year the senior students also participate in a benefit for PALS called "Doggies on the Catwalk." The students design clothes for local celebrities and the dogs that accompany them down the runway.

The show will air on GPB-TV this Sunday at 8pm.
