A Georgia man who is set to be executed this week.

Melbert Ray Ford was convicted in the 1986 killings of his former
girlfriend and her 11-year-old niece.

Ford is scheduled to be put to death on Wednesday but has filed a
range of appeals.

The state pardons board voted on Friday to deny him clemency.

Ford was convicted of killing Martha Chapman Matich and her niece
Lisa Chapman in what prosecutors say was a revenge killing.

They say Ford began harassing her after the couple broke up, and
that soon he was telling friends he wanted to kill her.

Ford was initially set to be executed on Feb. 23 but it was delayed
as Gov. Sonny Perdue waited to appoint a fifth member to the state pardons
board.
