Savannah Ports Sets Record
Primary Content
The Port of Savannah has set a new record.
On Thursday the Georgia Ports Authority announced a 20% jump in traffic between July and September.
That’s over the same period last year.
Over those three months, more than 740-thousand units – such as autos and shipping containers -- moved through the coastal port.
Georgia’s ports system includes the deepwater ports of Savannah and Brunswick, and inland barge terminals.
Collectively they support nearly 300,000 jobs and contribute $2.6 billion in state and local taxes.
