Democrats Lose Big In Georgia
Primary Content
It was a rough night for Georgia Democrats. They lost every statewide race and were unable to force a runoff in the Governor’s race.
Roy Barnes had hoped to make a comeback or at least challenge Nathan Deal in a runoff.
In the end, Barnes quoted the Apostle Paul as he thanked his supporters.
“I have fought the good fight, I have run the good race, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith and so have you," he said.
Georgia Democrats will now have to pick up the pieces. They also lost 3 statewide offices formerly held by Democrats. Georgia’s Attorney General and Labor and Agriculture commissioners are now Republicans. Georgia Democrats also lost one congressional seat to Republicans.
