A bitter cold weather system settled over Georgia Monday morning, with temperatures for much of the state in the 20’s and 30’s as of 6am.

Forecasters have a winter weather advisory in place for north Georgia until 10 am. And there’s a wind advisory until 7 tonight for north and middle Georgia. Those gusts of wind are producing wind chills in the single digits for some of the mountain counties this morning.

With the combination of some snow and ice in the mountain region of Georgia out of the weekend, there are 10 county school system closings: Dawson, Fannin, Gilmer, Habersham, Lumpkin, Pickens, Rabun, Towns, White, Whitfield, Murray, Union. Also Dalton public schools are closed.

Forecasters say highs Monday across the state will range from the high teens to low 40’s north to south. Tonight’s temperatures to dip again between 12-22.
