Groups supporting the Wisconsin union fight rallied at the capitol yesterday. They were met by anti union protesters who gathered across the Street. Susanna Capelouto checked in with both sides.

“Kill the Bill…….”

It was a scene of dueling protests. On the steps of the capitol several hundred union supporter echoed the chants from the Wisconsin fight. They waved signs that said Stop the War on workers.

Dave Norton is with the Sheet metal workers local 85.

“To me the right to join a union and have a say is as important as the second amendment on any other one. We’re just here to voice our freedom of speech. “

Across the street a smaller group of anti union protesters shouted “we pay the bills”. Michael Robinson says unions no longer have a place in the current economy.

“I just think it should be completely wiped out. No more unions. They had their fun in the sun. That’s how I feel about it.”

Georgia is what's known as a right to work state. Unlike Wisconsin teachers here do not have a union with bargaining power, only voluntary lobbying groups. Earlier in the day Senate Republicans voiced their support for Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker.
