Georgia Southern is No. 1 for the fourth consecutive week after its 41-14 SoCon victory over Elon. This week, the Eagles take on No. 23 Chattanooga in Statesboro. … Following its 28-14 upset win over then-No. 3 App State, Wofford is 2-0 in the SoCon. This week, the Terriers take on The Citadel in Charleston. Wofford rushed for 388 yards in the win while giving up just 247 total yards. The Bulldogs lead the series between these two 40-22-1, but lost last year’s meeting 35-0. … Furman (3-1, 2-0) hosts Samford Saturday in Greenville. The two programs have met just 13 times with Furman holding an 8-5 edge. The Paladins won last year’s meeting 27-10. Last weekend, Furman continued its recent offensive onslaught with a 47-21 whitewashing of Western Carolina. The win came on the heels of a 62-21 domination of Presbyterian two weeks ago. Head coach Bruce Fowler’s squad has won three in a row after dropping a season-opening game to Coastal Carolina. Samford has been hot lately as well, beating Gardner-Webb last week 41-14. … Elon and Western Carolina will butt heads in Cullowhee Saturday. The host Catamounts are still looking for their first SoCon win, while Elon is looking to bounce back from a 41-14 loss to Georgia Southern.
