More than 100 police officers on motorcycles led a funeral procession Monday for an Atlanta police officer killed by a motorist.

The funeral for Senior Police Officer Gail D. Thomas was being held at the Elizabeth Baptist Church in Atlanta.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that hundreds of law enforcement officers from across the South were paying tribute to Thomas, the second female Atlanta officer killed in the line of duty.

The 46-year-old was killed Tuesday night when she was struck by a car while helping investigate a wreck on an interstate ramp. Police have charged 22-year-old Chasity Jones with first-degree homicide by vehicle, driving under the influence and reckless driving.
