A Georgia man kidnapped by gunmen in Nigeria's oil-rich southern delta says he watched in horror as two men in the front seat of his SUV were shot seven times.

William Gregory Ock tells WXIA-TV the abduction also included a high-speed chase, followed by the week he spent chained in a hut as his abductors held him for a ransom.

Ock arrived in Atlanta on Sunday morning to a warm greeting from family and friends.

U.S. Embassy officials said the 50-year-old Ock was released after being captured on Jan. 20 but declined to offer further details, citing privacy rules.

Authorities say the kidnappers had demanded a $330,000 ransom for Ock's safe return.

It wasn't immediately clear whether a ransom had been paid to secure his release.
