An Amber Alert has been issued for a 12 year old North Carolina girl.

Carteret County deputies think Abigale Faith Lefevers is with a registered sex offender, 38 year old Timothy Newman.

The girl has not been seen since Monday.

Deputies said Wednesday afternoon that the latest information they have indicates that Newman may be heading from South Carolina to Florida.

Officials believe they may be traveling through Georgia. Investigators say Newman is familiar with the Atlantic coast because his father was a boat captain. They think he may be hanging around marinas.

Newman may also be driving a red 1998 Chrysler Sebring with a North Carolina license tag AKT 6534. If you spot it, call police.
