It’s a voting day – again – in parts of Georgia, with runoffs for two General Assembly seats and a special election for another.

In the state Senate, voters in eight southwest Georgia counties will choose between Republicans Dean Burke and Mike Keown in a runoff for district 11. The winner will replace Republican John Bulloch.

Southern Cherokee County voters are replacing Republican Sean Jerguson in House District 21. Republicans Brian Laurens and Scott Turner are in that runoff.

It’s the first go-round for five Republicans and one Democrat in House District 71. The seat covers a large part of eastern Coweta County and a small part of Fayette County. If no single candidate wins a majority of votes in the special election, the top two vote-getters will meet again in a runoff next month.
