A candidate for the Macon-Bibb County commission says he won't leave the race following the disclosure that he was arrested on a misdemeanor marijuana possession charge less than a month before launching his campaign.

25-year-old Danny Glover says his Jan. 23 arrest in Jones County probably will affect his viability as a candidate. He blames his opponent, Macon City Councilwoman Elaine Lucas, for spreading news of his arrest.

Lucas declined to comment other than to say she's disappointed "and I'm sure the voters will be too."

An incident report from Jones County says a deputy found Glover and another man asleep in a car. The deputy reported smelling marijuana inside and found a grinder, small baggies containing residue and burnt blunt containing suspected marijuana.
