A rising star of Macon politics announced Tuesday he is ending his bid for a seat on the new Macon-Bibb County Commission. Danny Glover was arrested for marijuana possession in January. He wouldn’t say if that was the reason behind his exit, but he did endorse another candidate.

Terry Tripp is the woman who will go head-to-head with longtime Macon city councilwoman Elaine Lucas.

Tripp says she is no stranger to Bibb County’s political scene. " I’ve served on the executive committee for the democratic party, I was on the school board in Bibb County representing East Macon for 6 years, I ran for county commissioner and lost the race and then kind of took a breather for a little while and I think that kind of helped me prepare myself."

Tripp also has the endorsement of community activist Al Tillman, who says over the years the African American vote in Macon has continually been split. He says Glover’s decision shows that African Americans are willing to work together for the good of the community.
