Authorities have arrested a Chatham County courthouse employee and seized her work computer as part of an investigation.

District Attorney Meg Heap says 34-year-old Vevelyn Scarborough is charged with conspiracy to distribute drugs and could face additional charges.

The woman is a case manager in Chatham County Superior Court. The arrest is part of a large drug case involving 40 people and about 50 pounds of cocaine.

Court records aren't yet available to show whether Scarborough has a defense attorney.

Superior Court Administrator Crystal Taylor Cooper says Scarborough is on investigative suspension without pay. She's expected in court on Monday for an initial appearance.
