Georgia Gwinnett College says the state Board of Nursing has signed off on its baccalaureate program in nursing.

The four-year college in Lawrenceville had previously received approval of the bachelor's degree nursing program from the Board of Regents and plans to begin accepting students into the program in the fall of 2014.

Diane White is dean of the college's School of Health Sciences. White says the college will be working to develop a rigorous program to fill the growing need for nurses with degrees.

The college was established in 2006 and has grown to more than 9,000 students.
