The elections board in a large east Georgia county is trying to decide what to do about cases of voters who don't live where they say they do. The Richmond County Board of Elections plans to take up the issue during a Monday night meeting.
The Richmond County Board of Elections decided Friday night that Executive Director Lynn Bailey should scrutinize a list of voters whose addresses appear to be vacant lots or abandoned houses. Bailey said she will present a full report next month along with a plan of action to improve the accuracy of the voting rolls.
Anyone in Augusta wanting to run for county commission and school board won’t be filing their paperwork this week during the qualifying period. A federal court has yet to redraw lines for those election districts.
