The NCAA is considering serious sanctions against the University of Georgia swim team, but the trouble could trickle down to the rest of the athletic program. According to allegations by the NCAA, UGA’s head swimming coach Jack Bauerle made arrangements with a professor for one of his star swimmers get an “incomplete” in a course, provided that the student complete the work at a later date for a passing grade. Due to a what the NCAA described as “clerical error” the student received a passing grade for the course, instead of an incomplete.
Georgia’s Board of Regents voted Tuesday afternoon to raise tuition at the state’s public colleges. Starting in the fall, students at most schools will pay 2.5 percent more each semester. That’s between $32 and $85, depending on the school. Students say it will be tough to pay more. Armstrong Atlantic State University freshman Adrian Wyatt says to afford higher tuition, he might have to cut back the 16 credits he’s taking this semester.

University of Georgia president Jere Morehead was formally invested as the school’s President in a ceremony in Athens on Nov. 19. Morehead was named President of the University of Georgia earlier this year. At Tuesday’s ceremony, Morehead promised to do his best to live up to the university’s expectations. He stressed that students are and will remain his first priority.
The University of Georgia has launched a $10,000 program billed as a way to attract more black males to the student body. The University of Georgia has some of the highest retention and graduation rates of African-American males in the country. But the problem isn't retaining African-American male students. It's getting them in the door in the first place.
Saturday's Georgia-Florida game will pump millions of dollars into the Jacksonville-area economy. That includes Georgia's St. Simons Island where thousands of partiers book hotels and typically trash the beach on Friday. About 8,000 revelers leave behind about 6,000 pounds of trash and recyclables.
