Georgia's rising public high school graduation rate hit a record in 2023. The state Department of Education says Tuesday that 84.4% of seniors graduated on time in the spring, up from 84.1% last year.

An autopsy has found that the death of a 62-year-old church deacon who was electrically shocked by an Atlanta police officer was a homicide. Johnny Hollman became unresponsive on Aug. 10 while being arrested after a minor car crash.
Georgia's state taxes on gasoline and diesel will be suspended for another month. Gov. Brian Kemp extended the tax rollback in a Friday executive order. The suspension will now last at least through Nov. 11.
