Growing up playing sports in Dublin, Bradford Haynes could hardly imagine the life he now leads. At a moment’s notice, he could be kissing his wife and daughters goodbye in Macon and heading to a movie set in a far-off land. Yet, he never set out to be an actor.
The film industry is booming again in Georgia with 50 productions currently working in the state, according to the Georgia Department of Economic Development.
Macon Mayor Lester Miller is adamant: “Absolutely no chance I’m going to cancel the Cherry Blossom Festival. We can’t afford another year without Cherry Blossom.”
When Congress agreed to enlarge the boundaries of the former Ocmulgee National Monument the national park designation was only part of the plan.
For the next few years, the National Park Service will study whether to include about 50 river miles in Bibb, Twiggs, Houston, Bleckley and Pulaski counties.
