Sea Stachura
Sea Stachura is a public radio journalist and author based in Augusta, Ga. Her work has been heard on NPR, Marketplace, Minnesota Public Radio, Georgia Public Broadcasting, and other stations. She’s won awards for her reporting, storytelling and use of sound. In 2011 and 2012 she was awarded two grants to conduct research on the 1970 Augusta Riot. Since that time, she has interviewed roughly forty people connected to it, held two public discussions on the topic, and gained access to 900 pages of declassified FBI files. In 2019, she helped Jessye Norman School of the Arts win the South Arts Cross Sector Grant, which will partially fund “Shots in the Back,” a podcast on the riot that is being co-produced with Georgia Public Broadcasting. She holds an M.A. in journalism from the University of Missouri and an M.F.A. in fiction from Warren Wilson College. Currently, she teaches podcasting at Jessye Norman School of the Arts.
