With an unwavering commitment to enriching learning experiences, the GPB Education team has wrapped up another year of creating exciting content and expanding our reach to impact more students and teachers than ever before. 

As 2023 comes to a close, here are some of our favorite moments from this year. 

1. Expansion of GASHA GO! World 
Developed by GPB Education in partnership with a team of Georgia educators, award-winning FableVision Studios, and the Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE), GASHA GO! World is a groundbreaking app- and web-based collection designed for children ages 4-8. This innovative platform includes 13 engaging games, seven animated videos, vocabulary cards, and additional support materials.

2. Let's Go Enviro
In May, GPB Education launched its latest high school science series, Let's Go Enviro. This digital video series explores environmental science through phenomena, project-based learning, and Georgia’s diverse ecosystems.

3. 2023 Writers Contest
We celebrated young writers from across the state with our annual PBS KIDS Writer’s Contest. After hundreds of submissions, sixteen winners were honored at a ceremony and recorded their stories which are featured on our website.

4. Georgia Pollinators Live Exploration
GPB Education hosted its tenth live exploration in May! In partnership with the University of Georgia, this program explored the world of pollinators and how they impact our daily lives. 

5. Mayor's Summer Reading Club
Our early childhood education team participated in the annual Mayor’s Summer Reading Club, hosted by GEEARS. Families joined us for a reading of this year’s books: Little  Blue Truck Leads the Way and The Curious Cardinal. We were thrilled to invite Atlanta Dream veteran player Kia Vaughn to read with families  and participate in learning activities.

6. Mathematics Standards Support video collection
To better support Georgia teachers with the state's latest math standards rollout, we partnered with the Georgia Department of Education to produce a robust video collection. Each grade level and math topic is covered in this collection, totaling to nearly 130+ videos. 

7. GPB Education is on Instagram!
Better late than never, we're on the Gram! Give @gpbeducation a follow for upcoming events, fun Georgia facts, and our latest content. 

8. Work It Out Wombats! Family and Community Learning Workshop 
Our early learning team partnered with Woodson Park YMCA Early Learning Center to lead families through a three-night workshop series around Work it Out Wombats! in September. Families enjoyed watching the show and participating in hands-on activities that taught foundational computational thinking skills.  

9. New GPB Education App
Just in time for the new school year, GPB Education launched its new app for teachers, families, and students! The app offers a wealth of no-cost, engaging, standards-aligned content designed to encourage curiosity, inspire imagination, and make learning fun. 

10. Esports partnership
Georgia Public Broadcasting and esports organization Ghost Gaming are partnering to deliver educational and esports content to gamers across the state of Georgia. As part of the partnership, Georgia Public Broadcasting will become an official content distribution partner of the Georgia Esports League (GEL).

11. Two new seasons of Classroom Conversations 
Two new seasons of our Classroom Conversations podcast were released this year. Classroom Conversations is a podcast that delves deep into diverse topics within the realm of education, featuring thought-provoking discussions, interviews with Georgia teachers, and practical strategies for enhancing learning experiences. 

12. Season 2 of Hope Givers 
Seven new episodes of Hope Givers showcase real stories, student reporter segments, youth self-care activities, student produced films, and musical performances from Atlanta’s thriving music industry. Themes include resilience, connectedness, peer-to-peer support, advocacy, goal-setting, disability, inclusivity, and having a trusted adult.

13. Beyond the Goalpost 
We produced three episodes of a new TV program called Beyond the Goalpost. The show highlights some of our coolest content, from exploring the Okefenokee Swamp to digging into peanut farming. 

14. Reaching and teaching educators
Our outreach team has traveled all over Georgia to train teachers on GPB's latest and greatest education content. From conferences to classrooms, we're meeting educators where they are to showcase new resources, experience Georgia in virtual reality, and so much more. 

15. Georgia Electricity Live Exploration
In partnership with Georgia EMC, we produced our 11th live exploration in December. Viewers discovered the power of Georgia's electricity, how it's generated, and various ways it's used across the Peach State. 

16. STEM/STEAM Path to Certification videos 
Developed in collaboration with the Georgia Department of Education, "Path to Certification" features three Georgia schools that are working toward a STEM or STEAM certification. Viewers hear from administrators, teachers, students, and community partners about their school's unique approach to engage learners in STEM/STEAM concepts. 

17. $martPath
$martPath is an engaging, interactive, and easy-to-use way for elementary and middle school teachers to embed relevant and fun economic and financial education in their classrooms to boost students' financial literacy. And the best part? It's free!
