GPB's PBS KIDS Writers Contest opens January 13th and closes April 30th, 2025

Get ready to grab your pencils and tell your story! Who knows? Your story could be the next big winner! Georgia Public Broadcasting invites all Georgia students in kindergarten through third grade to create an excellent story, illustrate it, and enter it in our PBS KIDS Writers Contest.

The contest will open January 13, 2025, and the deadline for submissions is April 30, 2025.

Stories can be fact or fiction, poetry or prose, or graphic novel, and will be judged on originality, creative expression, storytelling, and integration of illustrations. A first, second, and third place will be chosen from each grade level.

Entries are judged by a panel of judges. Once the winning stories are chosen, the winners will be honored with an awards presentation. Winners also will receive a prize pack and get to narrate their stories in our recording studios, which will appear on gpb.org.

The contest is also supported by a robust set of resources for children, families, and teachers, including activity sheets and checklists to inspire children during the brainstorming process.
