At Georgia Public Broadcasting, we believe in the power of education to shape the future. That's why we're thrilled to announce the launch of the GPB Student Voices Collective, a groundbreaking initiative in collaboration with PBS NewsHour Student Reporting Labs. Designed to empower secondary educators, this year-long program aims to amplify student voices and enhance media literacy among Georgia's youth.

What is the GPB Student Voices Collective?

The GPB Student Voices Collective is a unique opportunity for educators and students alike to join in meaningful discussions around crucial topics such as the upcoming election and civic engagement. Selected participants will embark on an exciting journey starting with a one-day immersive training and consultation session with representatives from GPB and PBS. Throughout the program, educators will receive ongoing support and resources to facilitate the creation of media shorts, empowering students to share their perspectives on issues that matter to them.

Join Us for the Inaugural Meeting

Our inaugural meeting will take place in person on June 13, 2024, at the Georgia Public Broadcasting headquarters in downtown Atlanta. We understand that travel may be a consideration, so travel assistance is available upon request for those residing beyond 50 miles of metro Atlanta. Additionally, each attendee will receive a $200 stipend to help offset any associated costs.

Benefits for Participants

Participants in the GPB Student Voices Collective will receive a personal media kit and gain access to a wealth of free online resources, equipping them with the tools they need to integrate media literacy education into their curriculum effectively. In addition to professional development opportunities, incentives for chosen applicants include certificates of participation, exclusive GPB and PBS merchandise, ongoing support, and coaching from industry experts.
