Primary Content
Sunday, April 27, the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Southeast Chapter announced the 2025 Southeast EMMY nominees. Among them are two educational programs produced by Georgia Public Broadcasting.

Georgia's Forests Live Exploration is nominated in the Informational/Instructional - Long Form category. Developed in partnership with the Georgia Forestry Foundation, this half-hour program explored Georgia's #1 crop--trees! During the show, students learned about the life cycle of a tree, the many benefits of Georgia's working forests, the purpose of prescribed fire, and the myriad of forestry products. Students also had the opportunity to participate in live trivia questions and a Q&A session with tree experts.
This program aired live May 7, 2024, and is available on demand at gpb.org/trees.
Two of GPB's Live Explorations have earned Southeast EMMY Awards in the past, including Georgia's Peanuts in 2022 and Georgia's Pollinators in 2024.
Mary Anne Lane, Ashley Mengwasser, Lex Hanson, and Jonathan Reedy are nominated for their work on this production.

Tiny Mic, Big Designs is nominated in the Children/Youth/Teen - Short Form category. As GPB's first social media-first series for a K-12 education audience, Tiny Mic, Big Designs features student groups across Georgia who participated in Georgia Tech's K12 InVenture Prize. Each episode spotlights a different student invention and aims to inspire the next generation of innovators.
Student inventions include a special apron that extinguishes fires, a dog collar that helps keep your pup cool in the summer, and a robot that helps provide clean drinking water.
All episodes of Tiny Mic, Big Designs are available to watch on gpb.org/tinymic.
Ashley Mengwasser, Ashlyn Süpper, and Mary Anne Lane are nominated for their work on this production.
This year, Georgia Public Broadcasting received 22 Southeast EMMY nominations in total. The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Southeast Chapter will announce the winners in a live ceremony June 14 in Atlanta.
