Georgia State Troopers Launch Hiring Blitz
Primary Content
If you land a job as a Georgia State Trooper it comes with a cool car and excellent benefits. And guess what? Georgia State Troopers are looking for candidates for jobs RIGHT NOW!
There's a catch, however. To be a Georgia State Trooper you have to pass some rigorous physical and mental tests. Before we get to what that entails, this is what Trooper Carlos Searcy said during a Wednesday visit to AccessWDUN.
"We have a SWAT Team, full-time SWAT Team. We have a dive team, guys that do underwater search and rescue. We have executive security. We have our officer professional standards, where they do investigations," Searcy said. So there's a lot of different things you could do as a State Trooper on a day-to-day basis."
Now, about the application process. As you can see below, it's intense. But if you're up to it, click here to begin your application process.

The Physical Fitness Program is an evaluation of absolute standards (same job = same standard). The standards are based upon Cooper Institute standards reflective of the minimum fitness level an individual must possess to perform their job regardless of their age or gender. The following events will comprise the assessment:

Minimum Standard |
---|---|
1.5 Mile Run |
15:34 (Min/Sec) |
Push Ups |
(#) 21 in One minute |
Sit Ups |
(#) 30 in one minute |

Please note that these are the minimum standards for consideration for employment. The Trooper Academy will require cadets to be at a much higher level of fitness. It is highly suggested that applicants implement physical training programs that will prepare them to well exceed the minimum requirements listed above.
- POLYGRAPH EXAMINATION
- BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION
Employment in law enforcement agencies involves public trust. Only those persons whose conduct, character and behavior does not discredit either themselves or the Department of Public Safety (DPS) will be employed. The DPS employment process will address the integrity, ethical conduct, honesty, prejudices, financial responsibility, and past behavior of all applicants
