Advanced technology manufacturing is coming to Dalton as Hanwha Q CELLS Korea, a leader in the global solar industry, announced it will create more than 500 jobs and invest $150 million in a new manufacturing facility in North Georgia.

The facility won’t be operational until 2019, and the positions won’t be posted for some time. However, that gives potential job seeks plenty of time to check out Georgia Northwestern Technical College for any programs that might help you land full-time work.

The solar industry is growing, as we look for more efficient and clean ways to generate power. We wrote about an influx of solar energy jobs coming to Georgia more than a year ago, and this announcement only proves that assertion to be true.

The Dalton facility will be the first one of its kind in North America for Hanwha Q CELLS Korea, as it currently only has similar facilities in Malaysia and China.

“We are excited that an innovative company like Hanwha Q Cells chose Whitfield County for their first U.S. manufacturing facility,” said GDEcD Commissioner Pat Wilson. “This announcement puts a spotlight on Dalton and Northwest Georgia’s attractiveness as a location for international advanced manufacturing projects.”
