Week 4: Battle of Former State Champs

This week our web game is Colquitt County at Warner Robins.
Colquitt County last won the state title in 1994. Warner Robins
won it in 2004, under then first year coach Brian Way.

This year Colquitt County has raced out to a 4-0 record and I mean
raced out. Coach Rush Probst once again has a high octane offense
that can score points in bunches. Warner Robins strength this year
comes on the defensive side of the ball. Linebackers Michael Lee and
Moses Allen leading the way. QB Ty Odum has played very well the first
two games and how about Brian Sutton of the Demons. As a sophomore he broke
his neck playing in a pick up game of football, he had to sit out all of
last year, but he has been cleared by the doctors and is back running
the football for the Warner Robins Demons in his senior season. Way to Go.

A few other thoughts on last weeks TV game between Newnan and Peachtree Ridge.
There was a moment of silence before the game in the memory of those that died
on 9/11. As I stood there thinking, I remembered how shell shocked the country was
on that day. And how sports helped in the healing process in the days ahead.
Sporting events were cancelled for the rest of the week for the most part.
The first event of any kind was a high school football game. And then remember
how it felt when the Star Spangled Banner was sung at Braves games and Falcons
games when things started to return to normal. There was such a feeling of
togetherness. That we were all Americans and that we would get through this
tragedy and bounce back. Sports were a big part of the healing process in this
country. And a high school football game began that process.
